The site

Hartham Common is located between Hertford town centre and the village of Bengeo.

The brief

To create a public footpath crossing the common and to refurbish the existing footbridge.

The solution

We supplied and installed timber kick boards to the bridge,which were made up of pressure treated softwood timbers with a brown pigment.  We also supplied and installed a metal Centrewire large mobility kissing gate. We then manufactured bespoke metal wings at both ends of the bridge, made from traditional galvanised metal estate fencing.  We finally painted all metal work on the bridge, kissing gate and estate fencing with black 'Hammerite'.

The result

A usable space was enhanced providing safe and level access across the common which will benefit the local community, as part of the Hertfordshire Rights of Way Improvement Plan.
