The site

The brief

The construction of a new bridleway along the road verge, part of the Hertfordshire Rights of Way Improvement Plan.  The plan provides the context for the future management of, and investment in, the rights of way network and other access activities, to meet the needs and demands of the people of Hertfordshire and those visiting the county.

The solution

Cleared verge, relocated the ditch, levelled the ground and constructed a new bridleway near a popular riding stables. 

The result

An new, safe and usable bridleway along the road verge and a successful joint venture between Hertfordshire County Council's Highways Department and Environment Department.
