Rainwater harvesting for allotments

The sites

Allotments across the Borough of Welwyn and Hatfield

The brief

To design and construct a self-contained grey water supply with timber structure to harvest rainwater for allotment users.

The solution

We construct a shelter in which a collection tank is situated, enabling rainwater to be harvested via run off from the roof.  The shelter is approximately 2 metres in height with guttering along one edge. The roof is made from ‘Onduline' corrugated sheets.  The structure is made from pressure treated softwood and has a guaranteed lifespan of at least 20 years. The 2500 litre tank rests on a heavy-duty hardwood base and has a brass tap allowing users to quickly and easily collect water from the tank.

The result

We provide a vital and sustainable amenity for allotment users who did not previously benefit from a fresh water source on site.

We are currently rolling out this facility to allotments in the Borough throughout the coming years.

Cost

We supply and install allotment rainwater harvesting systems anywhere in the the UK for £1,950 + VAT. Please contact us for a free ‘no obligation' quotation.
